Main Street Upper-Floor Affordable Housing Initiative

638242442178170000The Main Street Upper-Floor Affordable Housing Initiative promotes and incentivizes the development of moderate-income housing along Midvale’s historic Main Street, and in the neighborhoods within the Main Street CDA. The goal is to encourage further residential growth in the Main Street area, especially in current commercial or retail properties along the Main Street that have vacant upper-floor space. The initiative also incentivizes the development of additional upper floors for residential spaces on current single-story properties, as well as providing an incentive to develop currently vacant lots.

The Main Street Upper-Floor Affordable Housing Initiative will assist and encourage property owners interested in mixed-use development on Main Street as specified in the Form-Based Code and Main Street Small Area Plan, with the redevelopment or addition of upper floor space as high-quality rental housing for 80% AMI or below. The building must have retail or commercial on the first floor and the residential units must be vacant or not up to the State of Utah Building Code. Under this program, owners may obtain funds from the Redevelopment Agency of Midvale City (the “Agency”) for costs associated with the redevelopment or addition of the residential space.
