Home Repair Loan Program

The Redevelopment Agency of Midvale City created the Home Repair Loan Program to help low- to moderate-income homeowners with emergency repairs, safety issues, blight removal, energy conservation, and housing preservation. Funds are limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. We've teamed up with NeighborWorks Salt Lake to run the program. Eligible Repairs

  • Health or safety hazards
  • Accessibility modifications
  • Code compliance
  • Energy improvements
  • Renovation improvements that do not become a permanent part of the real property are not eligible.
Program Eligibility

  • 80% AMI (Area Medium Income) and below (households, or applicant and co-applicant).
  • Property must be located within Midvale City limits.
  • Property must be a single-family home, town home, condominium, or manufactured home that is permanently affixed to land.
  • The applicant must have owned the home for at least one year prior to applying.
  • Each applicant is eligible once in a lifetime.
  • Applicant must be current on mortgage payments and taxes.
  • There can be no liens on the property. Except a mortgage lien.
  • The property must be the applicants’ primary residence.
  • All applicants must meet income guidelines.
Terms of Assistance

  • Term: 5-year forgivable loan.
  • 20% reduction of the loan each full year
  • Interest Rate: 0%
  • Must be (applicant) owner occupied.
  • A deed restriction will be applied to the property during the lifetime of the loan.

Loan Limits
Loans can be any amount up to $15,000 but cannot exceed 20% of the appraised value of the home or $15,000, whichever is lower.

Repayment of Loan          

Repayment of some or all the HRLP loan will apply if the property is sold, conveyed, or transferred before the 5 years elapses from the closing date of the HRLP loan.
